In this issue of Alberta Doctors' Digest, we would like to highlight National Addictions Awareness Week (November 19 to 25). The event helps address the harms related to alcohol and other drugs. It provides an opportunity for people to learn more about the causes and prevention of harms, talk about treatment and recovery, and advance solutions for change.
To amplify the importance of addressing drug and alcohol addiction, Alberta Doctors' Digest recommends this recent article in the Edmonton Journal which was authored by Will Rioux, a medical student at the University of Alberta, and Dr. Monty Ghosh, an Internist and Addiction Specialist who works at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton.
