Dr. Jia Hu is a medical officer of health for Alberta Health Services in Calgary Zone and a clinical assistant professor at the University of Calgary. He also works at the East Calgary Health Centre, an inner-city family medicine practice serving marginalized populations. He previously worked in management consulting for McKinsey & Co. and as a consultant at the London School of Economics. He has advised governments on health financing models.
Dr. Hu obtained his bachelor of arts in economics from Harvard University, before going on to obtain his doctor of medicine from the University of Alberta. He completed his residency at the University of Toronto and St. Mike’s Hospital. Dr. Hu has a MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Finance from the London School of Economics and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Most recently, Dr. Hu completed training in public health and preventive medicine at the University of Toronto.
