Nicole Labine is a Métis second-year general surgery resident at the University of Saskatchewan. She was raised in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories and plans to return to the north as a general surgeon once her residency is complete.
Nicole completed her biochemistry with honors degree at the University of British Columbia, followed by her medical doctorate at the University of Alberta. Her lived perspective from growing up in a rural and remote community in the north frames her ongoing work in medical school admissions. Her goal is to increase Indigenous representation in medicine across Canada.
