Mark Watt is a senior consultant with the Accelerating Change Transformation Team (ACTT), an AMA program that works with Alberta physicians and their teams at multiple levels to improve service delivery to Albertans. Mark is responsible for advancing strategic AMA priorities related to the patient’s medical home model of care, including strategic partnership management/stakeholder relations, program and initiative development, and evaluation of outcomes.
The ACTT patient’s medical home portfolio of supports includes the development of clinical practice guidelines, implementation support for primary care research projects, and building educational and training materials to facilitate the adoption of evidence-based, specific and measurable best practices and innovations.
Mark has a long career in health care including national and international consultation for health system transformation. Prior to joining the AMA in 2010, Mark served as Director of Health Services with Interior Health Authority in British Columbia. Mark practiced clinically as an emergency room nurse for 10 years before joining the Chinook Primary Care Network to support family physicians with his quality improvement expertise.
