Raveena Dhaliwal is a second year medical student at the University of Alberta. She has broad medical interests including general surgery, emergency medicine, pediatrics, and women’s health. This, in turn, means she really enjoys medical school but has no idea which residencies to apply for.
She completed her Master’s degree at the University of Calgary in Neuroscience and her thesis involved assessing Magnetic Resonance Imaging techniques and their sensitivity and specificity to remyelination. Following her Master’s, Raveena worked on a literature review for best practices for transgender youth and in a spinal cord injury lab.
Currently, Raveena is balancing her work as a medical student with being the VP Finance of the U of A Medical Student Association, her work as a big sister with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Edmonton, and her hobbies, which include climbing, dancing, fencing, and snuggling with her cats!
Raveena enjoys traveling and is currently “recovering” from a recent trip to Hawaii where she got to snorkel but also unfortunately got sunburned for the very first time.
