Dr. William Cochrane was a true leader and trailblazer. As the founding dean of the new medical school in Calgary in 1967, he brought his vision of a body-systems-based, continuously taught curriculum to the school. Dr. Cochrane was named one of Alberta’s 100 physicians of the century in 2005 and became only the second Calgary physician to be inducted into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.

Co-authored by myself and Barbara Kermode-Scott, the book Medicine Makes a Wonderful Life documents Dr. Cochrane's impact on the medical and biomedical fields. The book is available now at the bookstore in the University of Calgary Health Sciences Centre, Foothills Campus. Or you can order it directly from the author at j.robert.lampard@gmail.com.

You can learn more about Dr. Cochrane in the January-February 2018 issue of Alberta Doctors' Digest.
