Gabrielle Wagner

Gabrielle Wagner is currently a first-year medical student at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine. Before entering medical school, Gabrielle completed a Bachelor of Science in biological science with a minor in sociology at the University of Calgary. As an undergraduate, Gabrielle served as the coordinator for the Student Union Campus Food Bank, where she addressed food insecurity on campus by providing emergency food relief to over 550 individuals and nutritious breakfasts for over 2,000 students. 

Since 2016, Gabrielle has served at the national level as the administration and evaluations director for Outrun the Stigma, a non-profit organization that strives to dispel the stigma surrounding mental illness, support local mental health organizations and foster youth advocacy skills. Gabrielle also currently serves as the co-executive director of the University of Calgary’s Students Against Domestic Abuse Association, the first student-run initiative of its kind in Canada. It raises awareness about the misconceptions and realities surrounding domestic abuse.

As an academic, Gabrielle currently works as a research assistant with the Department of Pediatrics, Cumming School of Medicine, where she manages data collection for a province-wide registry aimed at improving the outcomes for children with appendicitis.
