Oki (hello) my name is Patricia Yellow Horn and my Blackfoot name is Apuyaki (Fair One). I am from the Piikani Nation (Blackfoot Conferacy) in southern Alberta.
I have been a nurse for 33 years. I trained and worked In southern California at the LAC-USC Medical Center on medicial-surgical wards and their women's hospital on postpartum wards. I returned home to Alberta more than 23 years ago and have worked as a community health nurse in my Nation for that duration.
I wanted to work with people to make a difference in the delivery of health care and promote awareness in the broad spectrum of health promotion plus disease and injury prevention.
It has been an honor to serve my people.
